Tony Gwynn -  77.78% of the votes (14 of 18 votes)  Inducted in July 2006

 

     Tony Gwynn played 17 seasons in the CBL for 3 different teams (San Diego Padres (twice), Toronto Blue Jays and the Chicago Cubs in his final season).  He won four World Series rings, all with the Toronto Blue Jays and he also won 4 league batting titles.  Tony is the only CBL player to ever hit .400 for a CBL season when he hit .413 in 1995.  Tony only had 2 seasons in which he hit under .300.  He hit .298 in 1991 and .297 in 1993.  Gwynn is also the all time CBL leader in batting average with a remarkable .340 career mark.  He is the only player at this time to ever collect 3,000 or more hits in a career, with 3,443 hits.  Tony also leads with 544 career doubles and hits in a single season with 287 hits in 1995.

Will Clark -  88.89% of the votes (16 of 18 votes)  Inducted in July 2005

 

*     Will “The Thrill” Clark played for 14 seasons in the CBL for seven different teams (Cincinnati Reds, Toronto Blue Jays (twice), Montreal Expos, Baltimore Orioles, Minnesota Twins, Houston Astros, and the New York Yankees) .  He won three World Series rings, all with the Toronto Blue Jays.  Clark finished with a career batting average of .308 and with an OBA of .397, while slugging .516!  He scored 1111 runs and smashed 351 homeruns!

Nolan Ryan -  88.89% of the votes (16 of 18 votes)  Inducted in July 2005

Nolan Ryan played just seven seasons in the CBL, but it was probably the most dominant seven seasons ever!  The “Ryan Express” pitched for four different teams, the Houston Astros, the Toronto Blue Jays, Chicago White Sox, and the Detroit Tigers.  Ryan won one world series ring with the Toronto Blue Jays in 1990.  Ryan won 131 games and struck out 2002 batters in his career.  Opponents hit just .202 against him.  Ryan’s best year came in 1988, when he went 28-6 and struck out 398 opposing hitters.  He started 37 games that year and threw 29 complete games!

Sid Fernandez -  77.78% of the votes (14 of 18 votes)  Inducted in July 2005

 

Sid Fernandez dominated in his 12 year CBL career.  He played for three teams in his career, the New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays, and the Chicago Cubs.  Sid has more World Series rings than anyone.  He won nine World Series rings!  Four with the Mets, 4 with the Blue Jays, and one in his final year with the Chicago Cubs.  “El Sid” ranked 6th in career strikeouts at his time of induction with 2,658 K’s!  Opponents hit just .196 against him in his career.  He won 20 or more games five times in his career, with the most being 26 wins in 1993.  Opponents hit just .172 against him that year!
